Warmth that does the heavy lifting

Heated basalt stones melt muscles loose before hands ever press — deep relief without deep pressure, set up right in your home.

What the heat actually does

A tight muscle guards itself — press on it cold and it presses back. Heat changes the conversation. Warmed basalt stones placed along the body let warmth sink deep into the tissue, boosting circulation and coaxing muscles to release on their own. By the time Kim's hands follow, the work goes deeper with a fraction of the pressure.

The result is the relief of a firm massage wrapped in the comfort of a warm bath. Book a hot stone session or call (256) 426-5505.

Who it's for

When warmth wins

Tension that braces

If firm pressure makes you clench instead of melt, heat gets underneath the guard. Chronically tight shoulders and backs release without a single gritted tooth.

Cold months, long weeks

A North Alabama January — or a season of deadlines — has a signature chill that lives between the shoulder blades. This is the session that thaws it.

The occasion session

Birthdays, anniversaries, survived-the-quarter celebrations. Hot stone is the indulgent pick on the menu — and at home, the indulgence starts and ends on your couch.

How the session flows

Kim brings everything, stones and warmer included, and needs only an outlet and a few extra minutes of setup. Stones rest along the spine and in her hands as she works, alternating heated strokes with classic massage. She checks the temperature with you before anything touches skin — deeply warm, never hot — and adjusts as you go.

Prefer pressure over heat for a specific knot? That's deep tissue territory. Want the whole picture first? The cost guide compares every session side by side.

Hot stone questions

Before you book

How does a hot stone massage work?

Smooth basalt stones — volcanic rock that holds heat beautifully — are warmed in water, then placed along the back and worked over the muscles in gliding strokes. The heat sinks into tight tissue and relaxes it before and during the hands-on work, so muscles release with far less pressure.

Do the stones burn or feel too hot?

No — the stones are warmed in temperature-controlled water and Kim always checks the heat against her own hands, then with you, before they touch your skin. The sensation should be deeply warm and pleasant, like the best part of a hot bath. Too warm? Say so and they’re adjusted immediately.

Hot stone or deep tissue — which is better for tight muscles?

They get to the same place by different roads. Deep tissue uses sustained pressure; hot stone uses heat, so guarded muscles let go without intensity. If firm pressure makes you tense up — or you simply want relief that feels indulgent instead of industrious — hot stone is the pick.

Who should skip hot stone massage?

Heat isn’t for every body. If you’re pregnant, a prenatal massage is the safer, purpose-built choice. Conditions that affect heat sensation or circulation — neuropathy, diabetes, certain heart or blood-pressure conditions — call for your doctor’s okay first. Kim reviews health history before every first session.

Why does hot stone cost more than Swedish?

The stones, the heating equipment, and the extra setup and monitoring add real time and gear to the session — Kim is essentially bringing a small spa appliance to your living room. A 60-minute hot stone session is $100, versus $85 for Swedish.
